At last, a new Magic School bus adventure for your child! We've always loved the Magic School Bus books and videos and this video has quickly become my 1st grade son's favorite one in the series
This time, Ms. Frizzle takes the class on a journey throughout a rain forest, where the students learn about how delicately balanced the rain forest ecosystem is. As in the other videos in this series, children learn scientific facts about the topic, but also learn about the scientific process, while having lots of fun at the same time. One difference with this video, is that there is greater emphasis on the 'bigger picture" of the interconnectedness of life - and learning to 'see the whole forest' not 'just the trees'.
It's an ideal video for young children, whether they want an adventurous story or are ready to learn about the world around them. It's well done, educational and entertaining. This video is a perfect introduction for Earth Day!
Scholastic's The Magic School Bus, based on the award-winning book series by Joanna Cole and Bruce Degen, features a wacky science teacher named Ms. Frizzle who takes her class of enthusiastic, inquisitive students and playful sidekick, Liz the lizard, on educational field trips in her magically transformable bus.
"In The Rain Forest" begins with the kids surprising Ms. Frizzle with a gift of her very own cocoa tree from the Rainforest Rental Catalog. When the tree's cocoa bean harvest falls mysteriously sort, it's time for an investigative field trip to the tropics. Soon, the whole gang is hot on the trail of how cocoa pods, mud-puddles and tiny bugs all play a part in the rain forests' wondrous web of life.
All of these are videos that we own and have watched many times in our home and love.

And at each planet, Arnold's "know-it-all" cousin insists on bringing home souvenirs from each visit.
