Baby Van GoghFrom The Baby Einstein Company

This beautiful video has quickly became a favorite of my toddler. He runs around saying "baby van gogh... baby van gogh..." as only a toddler can do. I've lost track of the number of times we've watched this video together and each time we love it as much as the first time we watched it. This video and book combination is a wonderfully creative way to introduce colors, art and classical music to your young child.
I'm sure my toddler likes the puppets (such as Vincent Van Goat) and their cute sounds best (which he frequently imitates), but I love the beautiful art of the impressionist painter Van Gogh. I hope this exposure to art will leave a lasting impression on my son. The classical background music is a welcome change from that of the normal children's video. The music is appropriately done and nicely orchestrated.
When you're not enjoying the video, you can read the book of poems with your child. There is a lovely poem for each color and each is accompanied by original art or more paintings by Van Gogh. My favorite poem is:
- If my feelings turn to blue
- I toss some happy in my stew,
- And slurp it up without a spoon,
- And gaze out at the milky moon.
As with all the products from the BabyEinstein company, this one is well done. I highly recommend it.
Color is an essential characteristic of the amazing world that surrounds babies. This video is an enriching new approach to learning colors through the context of paintings by Van Gogh. This baby-friendly excursion into the world of color is accented in classical music of the period by Bizet, Mussorgsky, Offenbach, Rossini, Satie, Strauss, and Tschaikovsky.
All of these are videos that we own and have watched many times in our home and love.

Baby Mozart from the BabyEinstein Company |
|
|
This beautiful video for toddlers and infants has been based upon research showing that listening to Mozart's music can help increase a child's spatial intelligence and other cognitive skills. Whether or not this is true is almost beside the point because the video is just wonderful in its own right. The imagery is captivating and the music is engaging. My son and I have spent many hours enjoying this video. Order This Video |
