KidSource OnLine Review

Summary

This 3 CD set will give your child many hours of learning fun. While each CD has a similar theme, each has different learning objectives with different puzzles and activities for your child to do. Your child will learn and practice math, problem solving and reading skills. Each CD is well done and will be used by your child for a long time.

Educational
Value

The Learning Company has done a great job with this set. Your child will be learning in many different areas while they are playing. The greatest educational emphasis is on problem solving and math, but your child will also learn and practice his/her reading skills. All levels are well integrated and your child can stay and practice any activity as long as they wish, or move on and come back to it later. This flexibility provides for better adaptability to their initial knowledge level and to the child's rate of learning.

Fun Factor

Each of the titles in this 3 CD set is an adventure game filled with surprises, cute animations and fun activities. My son has played with these titles for many hours over the past year and continues to have lots of fun. He loves 'chasing the elves', 'avoiding the 'evil snowballs'' and other fun things.

Lasting Value

Each CD supports a wide range of learning levels, so children can steadily advance at their own pace for quite a while before reaching the top. There is enough variety in each CD that children can replay the same sections over and over and continue to have fun and to learn. Unlike other learning CD's, with these you don't feel that your child will so quickly grasp the material that you'll have to buy the next one in the series shortly. With the 3 CD set, if your child tires of one set of scenery, they can move on to the next CD with it's different environment and continue to develop their math and reading skills.

Quality

Overall, each CD is well done. The activities are challenging yet inviting, the animation and graphics are cute and interesting.

When I asked my son (who is 6) what he'd tell other children about these CD's, he said "Watch out for the evil snowballs (in MathStorm)." He has had many hours of fun (and learning) with these 3 CD's.
