Summary

Treasure MathStorm is a great way for your young child to develop his/her math skills. As your child finds treasures, s/he will learn about counting, time, money, relations, addition, subtraction, multiplication and more. Your child can spend many hours with MathStorm having fun and learning. My son has played with this title for over a year, has learned a lot and still has lots of fun with it.

Educational
Value

Each one of the "Treasure" titles from The Learning Company has great educational value. A nice educational aspect of MathStorm is that it gradually introduces new concepts so that your child is constantly challenged yet not frustrated. Children can easily quit any activity that they've mastered and move on, or stay with a given activity until they want to do something new. This gives children control over their learning and a good balance between reinforcement and learning new skills.

Fun Factor

If your child likes adventure games and likes doing math activities, then your child will love this title. It's fun and it becomes increasingly challenging as the levels change.

Lasting Value

MathStorm covers a wide range of math skills so your child can play with it for quite a while before 'outgrowing' it. Each title in this series supports a good range of learning levels, so children can steadily (or rapidly) advance at their own pace before reaching the top. There is enough variety in the activities and levels so that children can replay the same sections over and over and continue to have fun and to learn.

Quality

MathStorm is very well done. All of the math activities are challenging yet inviting and the animation and graphics are cute. Children receive positive feedback when they have done something right and good supporting comments when they make a mistake.

Check This Out

When I asked my son what he'd tell other children about this title, he said "Watch out for the evil snowballs". They appear at an upper level and are a challenging surprise!
