Summary
The goal of the game is to move a large shipment of Pit Droids through a series of hundreds of different mazes and puzzles to get them to the arena where they can get to work. You have to direct the droids through the mazes with a series of arrows and sorting tiles. In many cases, you have to devise the solution using a very limited number of tiles, which requires quite a bit of ingenuity. The game is easy to learn with the included tutorials. The game is non-violent, and gender neutral. No "shoot-em-up" here, and no need for fast reflexes.
Although the game is recommended for ages 9 and up, our 6 year old Star Wars fanatic has had a lot of fun with it, and keeps coming back to play it again, including creating his own puzzles specifically to baffle his parents.

Educational Value
This is a maze and puzzle game that will enhance logic and problem solving skills. It strongly encourages the player to experiment with different solutions to the puzzle, and its easy to pause the action, modify the solution and try again. The player is really creating a graphical computer program to solve each problem. |
Fun Factor
The animated antics of the Pit Droids keep this game interesting, even when your solutions to the puzzles are not working too well. The graphics are interesting and well done, particularly the tutorials (hosted by C3-PO) and the short videos between levels. The tie in to Star Wars Episode 1 will help get kids started with the game. |
Lasting Value
The game progresses through many levels, each with increasing difficulty, with a total of over 300 different puzzles. For really serious players, you can create your own puzzles, and share them with others. There is even an area on the Lucas Learning web site specifically for sharing puzzles with other players. The 3 dimensional graphics are very well done. We had no problems playing the game on our test machine. Be sure to check out the system requirements to make sure your system is fast enough to support all of the features.

Description
Looming over Tatooine in a transport ship is the largest shipment of pit droids that Watto, the Toydarian junk dealer, has ever purchased. Watto was hoping to sell the droids for various uses on Tatooine. Unfortunately, it turns out that these pit droids are only good at one thing -- fixing Podracers. Waiting idly in their ship, the pit droids have already caused more damage than even Watto's star mechanic, Anakin Skywalker, could possibly repair. Desperate, Watto begs the player's assistance in moving these mindless mechanicals from their transport ship to the Podrace Arena where their energies can be put to good use.
Players have to direct the pit droids through eight locations on Tatooine as they wind their way from the Transport Ship through Watto's Shop and Junkyard, the sweltering deserts of Hutt Flats, the mazes of the Mos Espa marketplace, and ultimately to the Podrace Arena. Each time a new location is reached, the player is rewarded with a high-resolution movie showcasing the earnest, but hapless pit droids in all of their hilarious glory.
