Pirate Ship is a scavenger-hunt style program for children interested in pirates and the days of mayhem on the high seas. In this adventure, pieces of a treasure map are hidden in various nooks and crannies of the ship. It's necessary to find all 10 pieces in order to find the treasure, but not necessary for hours of fun. (I never did find all 10 pieces!)

Pirate Ship teaches problem solving, reading, creativity, and mouse manipulation, but mostly it's just plain fun. There's more educational value for the younger child, but older children (ages 6-7 and up) will have fun with the hunt for the treasure map as well as the various activities.

Shiver me timbers! Pirate Ship is a load of fun for the kids. As with the Wild Western Town, I found myself laughing out loud a few times! With numerous play areas in addition to the search for the hidden pieces to the treasure map, players have plenty to keep them busy.

Lasting Value

Activities are scattered all over the ship and on shark raft and pirate island. Children may find themselves designing a pirate flag, a ship in a bottle, firing the ship's cannon, or singing pirate songs. There's enough variety to keep children busy each time they use Pirate Ship.

The animations, songs, voices, and background music are well done. The program flows smoothly, although finding all 10 pieces of the treasure map proved a bit difficult! My sons especially liked the firing of the ship's cannon and all the "bad guy" pirates! |
