According to TIA (Travel Industry Association of America), more than 37 million people nationwide will travel over New Year's weekend and 60 percent plan to use their car to get to their destination. Although most vehicle microchips are not date sensitive and will not be affected by Y2K, NAPA still recommends travelers prepare their cars for safe holiday road trips. "Heavy traffic, winter weather and fewer daylight hours can be a hazardous combination on the roads," said Steve Handschuh, president of NAPA. "It's imperative that drivers have their vehicle thoroughly checked out before heading out for the holidays and are aware of potential road and weather conditions."
