WASHINGTON, July 21, 1998 -- National Geographic Kids Video offers top quality entertainment for kids with a journey to Earth's ancient civilizations with the release of "Mummies Unwrapped!" and "Mystery Quest!," two all-new comedy-adventure titles from the Amazing Planet series, the first live-action children's series from National Geographic. Kids will blast off on a journey of discovery as they explore the lost ancient worlds of planet Earth with a zany band of alien adventurers. In "Mummies Unwrapped!" the hapless alien crew, lead by Captain Rip Rayon with his sidekicks Squeegee and Kidogo, searches for information about ancient Egypt that will impress the powers back on their home planet Miptor. The crew finds out how to make a mummy the Egyptian way and how camels survive in the desert. Then Captain Rayon and crew chart another course in "Mystery Quest!" to investigate a few of Earth's ancient mysteries such as the purpose of Stonehenge, the enormous statues of Easter Island, and the secrets of the Bermuda Triangle. The half-hour videos are priced at $12.95 each. Amazing Planet is a rollicking space-age adventure children's series that takes the extraordinary footage that National Geographic is famous for and turns it upside down and inside out in a comedy-adventure format. Amazing Planet offers kids humor, music, cutting-edge computer animation and eye-popping graphics as they learn about Earth's ancient civilizations from a whole new perspective. Available since last April are the first two titles for the series, "Lava Blast!" and "Shark-A-Thon!" (also priced at $12.95 each).
