NEW YORK, Nov. 1, 1996-- Cirrus Air Technologies, the burgeoning non-medical healthcare company, is introducing the newest version of its debut product -- EarPlanes(R) to the public in early 1997. New Children's EarPlanes was created specifically for the sensitive ears of children, ages one to eleven.

EarPlanes(R) is the patented scientific breakthrough solution to the ear pain experienced by millions of air travelers who fly while suffering from sinus conditions, allergies, colds or who have ears sensitive to air pressure changes. EarPlanes has answered the question of over 42 million North American air travelers per year: "How can I keep my ears from hurting?" The product was recently introduced to consumers following several years in development. Reaction to EarPlanes by healthcare professionals, the travel industry and former ear pain sufferers has been positively received.

EarPlanes' enthusiastic reception encouraged the company to introduce a pediatric version, Children's EarPlanes, currently available for children, ages three through eleven. New Children's EarPlanes are in the final stages of development now, and will be available to the public by January, 1997.

"We knew we'd pioneered a unique pain-alleviating product that would fill a void in the travel healthcare marketplace," said Drew O'Connell, president of Cirrus Air Technologies. "Our research indicated that each year almost one out of three airline passengers suffers from ear pain on take off and landing, but until the introduction of EarPlanes there wasn't a product that addressed the needs of these travelers. With more and more families traveling with young children, our research showed that babies might need pain relief even more than adults, since a child's Eustachian tube is not fully developed, and therefore may experience more ear pain than older children or adults."

Travel Smart reports that its products are now available at some 30,000 mass merchandisers, pharmacies and airport shops throughout the US including WalMart, KMart, Walgreen's, CVS, Eckerd, Long's, and Sav-On. EarPlanes and Children's EarPlanes are also available throughout Canada and the United Kingdom.

In addition to EarPlanes, Cirrus Air Technologies' rapid growth enabled it to develop and introduce a range of other ear related products using its patented regulator technology. These include AquaEars (protects water- sensitive ears but does not block sound), Children's AquaEars (for children 3 through 11) and EarFilters (protects ears from harsh surrounding noises while allowing normal conversation to be heard). Also, FootPlanes(TM) a specialized hosiery developed to control foot swelling while in-flight, are available now through Cirrus Air Technologies.

EarPlanes consist of a small, pliable disposable silicone rubber lug (similar in look to a regular ear plug) which contains an ingenious CeramX filter. When this diminutive plug is inserted into the ear prior to take-off and landing, it works with the body's own internal mechanism, enabling air entering the ear to do so slowly, comfortably and safely negating the often painful effects of rapid cabin air pressure changes. EarPlanes are also a safe and reliable alternative to taking cold or sinus medication for many people since EarPlanes work in a similar way to clear the Eustachian tube of fluid which causes pressure and consequently causes pain. These "small necessities" are effective ear devices for greater comfort during air travel, water sports, and while in noisy environments.

EarPlanes and New Children's EarPlanes retail for under $5 in the US and about $7 (CND) in Canada for a round-trip pair. To order by phone, call 800-962-4943.
