Donation to Doddridge County High School

Congratulations to the Doddridge County High School, Doddridge County West Virginia! They are the recipients of the donation of a 386 laptop computer for their Media Center as part of KidSource OnLine's Computing EDGE program.

Christine Richards, the school's Library/Media Specialist received the donation from HybridMedia of Palo Alto, California. HybridMedia provides strategic planning and product management services for Internet and multimedia companies worldwide.

Doddridge County High School has 425 students and is located in a rural area of West Virginia with a high rate of unemployment. Funding for new technology is rare and such donations bring sorely needed resources to those who can use them the most.

The laptop will not only expand the resources available to students in the Media Center, but Ms. Richards plans on letting students check out the laptop and take it home to use it with their parents. This is one way for her to increase the understanding of the benefits of computing technology throughout her school district.

Her vision is to bring the world of the Internet to her students and their parents, in addition to teaching basic computer skills as a foundation for future employment.

We wish to thank HybridMedia for their generous donation.

For further details on the program or for a listing of other schools who could benefit by a donation, visit the Computing EDGE program.
