PIQUA, Ohio, Oct. 10, 1997 -- Evenflo Company, Inc. announced today a consumer corrective action on its SIDEKICK(TM) child restraint system. The seat subject to this action is the SIDEKICK(TM) Booster Car Seat meeting the following criteria:

  • It is the brand name Evenflo SIDEKICK(TM) Booster Car Seat
  • The Model Numbers begin with 244
  • It has a manufacturing date between April 23, 1996 and May 20, 1997

The Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard requires that test dummies experience a head injury criteria score of no more than 1,000 during a 30 mile per hour fixed barrier sled test. Recent tests conducted have revealed that some of the SIDEKICK(TM) booster seats can experience head injury criteria scores in excess of 1,000. No injuries have been reported.

Evenflo is making available, free of charge, a consumer remedy. Consumers can obtain the consumer remedy by calling Evenflo toll free at 1-800-233-5921, or by writing Evenflo at 1801 Commerce Drive, Piqua, Ohio 45356.
