This is a book that I would recommend that all parents purchase and keep at home as a reference. It includes excellent practical advice for dealing with a variety of common behavior problems. It is easy to read and is very well organized. Each chapter concludes by listing the main points to remember. The author uses a behavioral approach to child rearing and discipline. This approach is based on the belief that both good and inappropriate behavior is learned, and that inappropriate behavior can be changed by using effective methods. This book includes many useful checklists and charts to help you get started. An appendix in the back of the book includes a list of common behavior problems along with appropriate strategies for changing the behavior. I also enjoy the great illustrations in this book. The illustrations were done by John Robb.
