KidSource OnLine Book Review

This is a charming story about friendship and courage. Lars, the little polar bear, learns that a true friend is someone who overcomes their fears in order to help someone they care about. Every child will learn something from this book. The illustrations are nicely done and add warmth to the story. Read it with your child, or it can be read alone by an older child.

From the Back Cover

One quiet day when Lars, the little polar bear, is feeling lonely, he hears a noise coming from a deep hole. When he investigates he finds a little arctic hare named Hugo crying for help. Lars manages to get Hugo out of the hole, and the two start to play games. When Hugo is too frightened to slide down a steep hill, Lars says, "You aren't a scaredy-cat, you are a scaredy-hare!". But as they play together, it starts to snow and soon they are lost in a fierce snowstorm, far from home. In this fast-paced new adventure, Lars gets trapped inside a polar research station and Hugo has to find the courage to save him. By the time they get back home, Lars has made a life-long friend and he's learned what it's like to be a "scaredy-bear."
